On 7 January, the world's largest natural gas processing FPSO, the N999 Tortue FPSO, designed and built by COSCO Shipping Offshore & Marine in Qidong, was successfully sea trialed after completing a number of commissioning tasks. The N999 Tortue FPSO will be officially delivered to BP in mid-January, following the completion of sea trials, to serve the development of the first phase of the world class LNG hub, GTA, off the coast of Mauritania and Senegal in West Africa. platform in the world today.

The project combines oil and gas production, handling, storage and offloading, offtake functions and mooring positioning. The vessel is 270m long, 54m wide and 31.5m deep, with an area equivalent to two football pitches and the height of a 10-storey building. All data communication cables on board are shielded CAT6A marine copper cables, RS485 industrial cables and various sizes of marine fibre optic cables supplied by ZTC Technology.
